Frozen in Time
Motionless, Standing, Frozen in time, In midst of action of conflict of emotion Your world stays still, You, a statue an object inanimate useless, Unable to do anything But think and stare, As the world becomes an empty room Colorless empty and quiet, The only remembrance of your surroundings Are the subtle dewdrops of tears Nourishing your fear And drowning your hope, You rooted down Time free to fly, You caress A unconscious friend Stalling the routine exchange Of words between Life and Death, You want freedom from your helplessness The prison cell bars holding you back , But when Death ends the conversation When fear grows tall and blossoms When you return to where you are In a colored room with action conflict and emotion When the metal cell bars shatter, You stand still Enveloped in sorrow Seeds of guilt and pain Grow where hope once was, It no longer matters that you are free Or that you know what’s going on, You have been thawed out You melt You warm up Then your heart burns It breaks Pieces left uncovered, You cannot move You are broken So you scream, Yelling your rage, Crying, Joyless.
