'If I Stay' by Gayle Forman, is about a young Cellist (cello player) named Mia Hall. She's living the perfect life. Best friend, loving and supporting family that is responsible, yet very laid back, rock star boyfriend, and a passion for playing her beloved Cello. On a family car ride to Mia's grandparent's house, their car is unexpectedly hit by a truck, leaving Mia's parents, and little brother dead. But, there is an astonishing twist. Mia is having an 'out of body' experience. Literally. She watches the ambulance carry her own body onto a gurney and drive away to a nearby hospital. She reaizes that she has no communication with anyone and watches as chaos and drama is taking place by her tragic accident. She sees herself broken, bruised, and damaged, her best friend and her boyfriend teaming up to get into the ICU to see her, and flashbacks of times she will never forget. They will all stay with her forever. And unfortunately, the fact that her family is dead, will stay with her too. Sorry if that was a little confusing. I rate the book 9.9 out of 10. This is because at some parts i just wanted everything to be happy and fun, the opposite happened. The book and the story itself is terrific! Mia really is a prodogy. She's shy and quiet when you first meet her, but you come to realize there is more to her than meets the eye. The only thing keeping her from choosing to go and be with her family up above, is that warm hand clenching hers. The whispering and sobbing, 'Don't leave me. Please. I will do anything for you... If you stay.' (just in case you were wondering who's words those are, it's her boyfriend, Adam's)

'A Breath of Eyre' is a truly breath taking novel. It is about a girl named Emma Townsend. She lives with her father and his second wife. Emma goes to a boarding school and doesn't have any friends. She does, however, have a strong passion for reading classic novels and writing poems. Soon, Emma and her room mate, Michelle, become friends, realizing that they have more in common than they thought. When hanging out at the stables after school one day, they meet a boy named Owen. Owen attends the boys' boarding school that is close to Emma's school (Lockwood Prep) called Breaburn. Michelle, Emma, and Owen click instantly and arrange to meet there at the stables regularly. JEEZ! There's so much to explain for this book! Okay! So when she starts reading 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte, she finds herself escaping to Janes world and becomeing one with it. But is she really living Jane's life? Is it just all a dream...? Maybe. Find out for herself. But! Don't forget one of this book's most beloved characters! Gray Newman! Gray is a long time aquaintence of Emma's. Their mothers had been friends before Emma's mother committed suicide (whole nother story!). Emma and Gray kindle love they have always had for eachother, but have never admitted to. SO MANY SURPRISES IN THIS BOOK! So basically, if you are into classic novels, action, mystery, drama, romance, devistation, must i go on? Basically, you can tell i really loved reading this. And that means that you should read it too! So get off your lazy butt and go find this book at a nearby library or bookstore! The sequel to 'The Hunger Games', is an exciting, action packed, continued story of Heroine, Katniss Everdeen, and her story after getting out of the arena alive with fellow district tribute, Peeta Mellark. After facing the challenges of the Capitol in the arena, Katniss is scarred perminantly. But this novel faces new challenges for Katniss and her friends. This is the beginning of something extrordinarily new in not only Katniss's life, but the lives of the citizens of Panem as well. I'm trying hard not to give away the surprise that the book revolves around, but trust me, your head will explode once you find out what it is. One of the challenges Katniss must face, is figuring out which man she loves. Now this is hard for a 17 year old girl! Peeta? Or Gale??? You'll have to wait and see. But 'Catching Fire' will leave you in tears and at the edge of your seat. There are new characters i came to love and car for. It left me asking questions. SOOO MANY QUESTIONS that as soon as i finished it, i had to go out and buy the last book of the trilogy, 'Mockingjay'. But that's a review for another day. If you enjoyed 'The Hunger Games', then you will DIE for 'Catching Fire', (There i go being all exaggurated again...) Okay! Let's get started! DELIRIUM! Yessss! Sorry (i'm gonna be exaggurating a LOT in this review). Anyhow, 'Delirium' is an AMAZING book about a girl named Lena Halloway. The book takes place sometime in near future (maybe around 30-50 years ago) and scientist have declaired 'Love' as a disease. I KNOW RIGHT! How in the WORLD can love be a disease. Well you can find out by turning the cover of this AMAZING NOVEL! (You can tell i'm a BIG reader). So males and females are seperated in schools. You aren't allowed to have a lot of contact with a guy (if you are a girl and vise versa) or you will be arrested. When you become 18, you will get 'cured' of love and be arranged to marry a man of your choice who has also been cured. Lena has always been a strict rule follower. But her best friend Hannah opens her eyes to a new world. Rebel children throwing secret mixed gender parties at midnight, restricted music, restricted websites, and much more. Lena is not okay with this, but once she meets Alex (AAAH <3) her whole world changes. She begins to question if she wants to be cured and marry someone she doesn't even know. 'Delirium' is an action packed novel, that's for sure. It kept me at the edge of my seat! The beggining didn't pull me in as much as it should have. It's about 400 pages, but it only really got good around page 200. It is a trilogy. The second book is called 'Pandemonium' (which i am currently reading) and the third book is called 'Requiem' which comes out some time in the spring. Final note: If you are a cryer, this book will make you cry your eye balls out! Where do I start with this AMAZING novel. So 'Tempest' is about a young man named Jackson Meyer. He is attending New York University at 19 years old. After finding out from experience that he has the ability to time travel, he takes on a challenge that will change his life forever. After watching his girlfriend, Holly, die before his eyes, he is taken back to 2007. Two years ago, since it takes place in 2009. He is stuck there for quite some time. There, he finds Holly, his friend Adam, and his Father. Everything pieces together. A small jump in time leads to a LONG search for answers. My friend introduced me to this book. I am greatful she did or otherwise I would not have had the privelage to read it. As you already know, I am a phsycopath with many opinions that are stongly exaggurated, however, when it came to this book, (you can ask my friends) I went LITERALLY INSANE! It is a trilogy and the next book, called 'Vortex', will be released on January 15th of 2013. So basically, if you are into science fiction, romance, and following a 19 year old boy's thoughts about life itself, then you will be sure to enjoy 'Tempest'. (WARNING: There is mild cursing throughout the book just in case that bothers you.) What started off as a small idea for a book, has blossomed into something entirely bigger. The popular novel known as 'The Hunger Games' has swept the minds of thousands of teens over the past year. Am I being too serious. Yeah, I am. Let's make this a fun book review! Okay... right! So 'The Hunger Games' (if you don't already know) takes place at some point in North America's future. North America is now called 'Panem' (did you know 'Panem' means bread in latin???). There are 12 districts where the united states once stood. Katniss Everdean (the main character) lives in the 12th district. District 12 is an outline district meaning it is known as a poorer district. Katniss is forced to fend for herself and her family consisting of her Mother and her Sister Primrose. Each year the Capitol has a celebration called 'The Hunger Games'. A boy and a girl are selected from each district and basically trained for a week and thrown into an arena to fight eachother to the death. In the story we follow Katniss's journey through the hardiships of the games and possibly finding something hidden inside her that she had never seen before. If you are into adventurous novels that keep you guessing at the turn of events, then 'The Hunger Games' is the best book for you! Once i started reading it, I literaly COULD NOT stop! I stayed up half the night reading and reading and reading! That just shows you how insane I am. BUT SERIOUSLY PEOPLE! Read this book!!! |
