My experience in Peru was very fabulous . I went to lots of places like La Merced, Huancayo, and Lima, Peru. When I first got to Peru, I had to stay in Lima until my sister, Nory, had come for the whole family to go to the family´s main city, Huancayo. I felt personally that Huancayo was better than Lima because Lima is more polluted and smelly than Huancayo. Like when I was on the road while I was sitting in the back seat of the car to go travel, I tried to put down the window and when I did, IT SMELLED SO BAD. A week later, I went to this place called La Merced. La Merced is a city in upper Peru. It took 5 hours from bus to go there. While I was in La Merced, I went to this fabulous jungle where it reminded me of pictures of Costa Rica. I saw lots of Monkeys and insects. Then I saw this huge waterfall and I actually went under . My family took lots of pictures and we enjoyed the experience. Later that day, we had to go in this little mini van to go back to Huancayo. During my days in Huancayo, I haven’t been doing much. I sat on my bed doing some reading and some homework. It was boring until I came back to Lima, where my 2 favorite cousins were. After 3 days in Lima, I sadly had to come back to America.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “In nature, all is useful, all is beautiful. It is therefore beautiful, because it is alive.” I found this as true one color day that began in misery and disaster then ended out in perfectness and warmth.
Color day is a tradition at jenkintown where the two jenkintown colors red and blue go against each other it is kinda like a giant field day, you get a color when you come to jenkintown and every one in your family is that color and is always that color. One color day it rained during most of the event so we all sat out in the pouring rain or dry ish in the bathroom. My team won our event because when I was the anchor I couldn’t wait to get out of the rain. Then my grade was allowed to leave but me and my friend couldn’t find my mom so we stayed in the rain getting frost bite. Then I found my mom and she was at home all along and know was looking for my brother. By then it was at the last event so me and my friend watched while my mom found my brother inside. After they announced the score we left I was upset when my team was still on a losing streak but I was exuberant to finally get out of the rain because I was drenched. When we got to my house my mom made us hot chocolate and popcorn then we needed something to do so we invited my brother’s friend over and I got out my Ipad. We then had a lot of fun making things in imovie. They were hilarious, then after he left we made a newscast and in it my brother sang opera, me and my friend were laughing so hard. “In nature, all is useful, all is beautiful. It is therefore beautiful, because it is alive” because nature turned a losing streak into an awesome time. I can’t wait to do it again next year, but hopefully without the rain. When we moved into our first house I wasn't born yet. It was a row home house so it was pretty small. It was only my mom dad and Ryan my older brother, I came few years later and then it was Caden next. My mom and dad were expecting on more baby and that was it, but that didn't happen. I now had two more siblings in my family Shawn and Olivia, and seven people living in a small house.
We have been living in my house for a long time now. It is a big difference when you start with one kid in your family and go to five kids in your family. We do Christmas brunch every year and it was starting to get hard to do our family traditions when you have a small house with kids running all around. My mom and dad finally started to look for a new house, but they were looking in Jenkintown so we could stay in the same neighborhood. We looked at a bunch of houses and couldn't find one. Me and my dad were driving by a house we already looked at a while ago and my dad called the realtor to see if we could take another look. The lady said we could come in to check it out. I couldn't believe it when my mom and dad came home and said we were moving. We sold our house pretty quick which was good luck, and sooner that later we were living in our new house. Our new house was definitely bigger than our old one but no to big which I like. Finally there!” I say as the plane hits the ground.
We have arrived in Orlando after a long plane ride. It had been about a two and a half hour flight to Orlando, Florida. “When can we go to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom?” I said to my dad. “After we get to the hotel and unpack everything,” my dad said. So, we arrived at the hotel and unpacked everything in our bags. We had gone to only Epcot that night, not what I had planned to do. We got back to the hotel and were extremely tired from the long trip and the long day at Epcot. “I’m tired,” I said quietly as I fell onto my bed. Bang! Bang! Just as I start to fall asleep I hear knocking on the door. It’s my parents telling me to wake up. I look at my clock and see that the time has suddenly gone from 9:00 o’clock pm to 8:30 am. I get up and ask them where we are going to go this morning. “Magic Kingdom,” they say. I look outside to check the temperature. It was as hot as flames outside that day, not a cloud in the sky, or at least none that I could see. We took our car over to the Magic Kingdom and walked over to the Magic KIngdom. Just as I start to walk to a ride I saw them, the big dark clouds starting to roll in out of nowhere. Did I not see them or did they just form while we were driving here. They were moving as fast as an athlete running for the finish line and they were moving towards Magic Kingdom. “Mom this looks like a bad storm,” I said “Maybe we should go back home and wait it out,” she answered. “But what if we wait it out and it doesn’t stop?” I said. “I don’t know, but if we wait any longer we will get drenched,” my mom exclaimed. The wind was so hard that the trees were swaying wildly. I could hear the wind whistling as it passed by. The rain started just as I had entered my car. It was so hard that the rain sounded like hail when it hit the windows. This was not going to be good for our plans. We went into our apartment and turned on the news. It said that a huge storm was coming into Orlando, Florida and was going to be lasting throughout the day. The news reporters gave the advice to stay inside which was an idea that I was not very fond of. Anger was boiling up inside of me. “You know it’s very ironic how the rain started just as I got into Magic Kingdom!” I said angrily “It is pretty ironic how that happened and it’s also incredibly funny,” my brother said as he laughed. “I wish we still could have gone even if it was raining. Most of the rides are indoors so, why couldn’t we have stayed?” I said “If we stayed how would we walk from ride to ride without getting soaked in water, Sean?” my dad responded. The rain had stopped by at least ten o’clock so I kind of figured right then that it was too late to go. I woke up the next morning with the thought in my head that I will never go to Magic Kingdom this week. It was our last day here. We were going to the airport to leave for Philadelphia. It’s sometimes when you get that thought that nature can screw lots of things up and can be annoying sometimes. We were headed to the airport when I noticed something odd. “Hey dad where are we going? This isn't the way to the airport.” “We aren't going to the airport, Sean.” For a second I thought, “Well where are we going then?” But when my dad turned a corner, I saw the sign that said “Magic Kingdom →.” The moment I saw that my dad was turning right, I knew that we were going to the place I had wanted to go since we came to Disney World. Then I saw it. We were going to the Magic Kingdom before we left. I was so excited to finally go. Once we arrived we had a great time. Nature brought us a better day than ever before for our last day. But before I knew it, I had to go. “Dad do we really have to leave now?” I said. “Yes we do. I know it’s hard but we have to go.” I was sad that I had to leave to return to school. But there are benefits that Jenkintown has that Orlando does not. So remember if you are ever going on a vacation with your family, nature can ruin things in the beginning but in the end you will always see the beauty in nature. Have you ever been stuck in the middle of nowhere and have no idea how to get out. Well let me tell you right now its scary. “ We’ll be back by dinner,” I said to my dad. Michael and I were just about to go for a hike in the woods. We came up to my uncle John’s mountain house for the week. We packed snacks, drinks, and pocket knives. So we took off and started to walk. Mike and I have known each other since second grade and he goes to my school. “ Don’t go in bear country,” my uncle screamed. “We won't,” I said. So Mike grabbed his stick and knife and we left. By the way, bear country is where all the bears hang out. So after about twenty minutes of hiking, we were in the middle of the woods. I looked at the map my uncle gave us because he wants us to find this cabin in the middle of the woods. Theres so many trees and ponds and it just all looks the same. Even though Mike said we won't get lost, I still felt like we will. I mean, come on, every tree is green, the sun is shining through like every tree and its just so confusing. "This is the wrong way,” I said to mike Mike said I was wrong but I think we are. So we kept walking and after 15 minutes, I knew we were lost. “Oh this is just great all around us it looks the same now how are we going to find are way out,” stated mike. We had not brought our phones with us because theres no reception. We sat down to calm down and eat snacks but after awhile of eating we heard a scratching sound from a tree. I look behind me and about 50 feet away was a bear scratching on a tree. It was big black bear. At that moment of the day, my body didn't really feel like taking the pain of getting eaten by a bear who could fit my head in his mouth. I’ve always wanted to see a bear in the wild, but not when I don’t know how to get out .We pretty much just stood there in fear feeling the wind attacking us for about a minute. “Mike,” “Yeah!,” responded mike. “RUNNNN” So we started to run as far and quiet as possible. Then we came to the trail which was made out of rocks and we knew we were close. We took the trail and we could start to see the cabin. We were so happy. We got back to the cabin and everyone was asking what happen and we looked back and just laughed. It was a very scary moment but i'm pretty sure we had fun doing it. Our close friend who lived next door moved to Florida a month ago. She was a sweet old lady. Always used to give me those butterscotch candies she carried in her purse. I miss coming home from school seeing her watering the pansies, and watching her smile through her window whenever spring had begun. When she left she gave me a pare of her old shoes. They're a faded blue color and have thin white laces and when you slip them on it feels like home. I wear them everyday. Kids at school make fun of me, but I don't mind. Anyways, she's gone, and we'll have a new neighbor soon.
It's the day she's moving in. Momma says her name is Jane Dell. The car comes up the driveway. It's shiny, red, and the the the roof is open. The woman's hair is bleach blonde, poofed up as big as Texas (hyperbole). She steps out wearing a black snug dress and nude colored pumps. She struts over to our lawn looking to chat, but I don't think my mouth will do anything other that hang wide open. It's strange to see her in her pristine little outfit walking through the muddy grass. "Well hello, who are you?" the young woman asks. "I'm Lola," I reply. She explains how she is happy to be my new neighbor and such. I complement her on her shoes and she thanks me. Then she suggests we go shopping for shoes together. "Well aren't shoes I have now just fine?" I say in an unsure tone. "Oh sweetheart, you don't go around wearing those old things, do you? You have a lot of learning to do." She says. My head heats up as hot as the oven when Momma's baking an apple pie (hyperbole). I hold in my frustration and manage to say, "Good day, Jane" as I run inside. "It's Ms. Dell," she calls out to me. That boils my temper even more. I run upstairs, into my room, and shut the door. I rip the shoes off my feet and chuck them out the window. I punch my pillow many times pretending it's "Ms. Dell". She'll never understand. I loved those shoes, and I loved that little old lady. She will, never replace her, and she will never know or consider how much they meant to me. I let the tears pour down my face. I run downstairs, and jump into my momma's lap. I let her embrace my feelings and blot my tears. "Momma, I don't like our new neighbor," I whimper. Once there lived a woman named Cassandra. Everyday she would go to her unwanted job where she helped deliver food to the homeless. All of her millions of friends around her advised to get a better job, but Cassandra loved her job even though she didn't get paid much and it was not the most luxerious job out there. But Cassandra haven't always had this unfortunate life, she had sacrificed, for others to have this less fortunate life.
Cassandra got out of college and from that day on got a bunch of job offers. Being a doctor, lawyer, popstar, architect, etc. Cassandra had tried many of these jobs but never felt like she was making a difference in life. So one day, she applied for a job to work with the homeless. She always wanted to help out with others and make their lives better so this was perfect. The only problem was that she got paid less than half of any other job that she had applied for in the past. So after months and months, and hours and hours of thinking about what she would decide, Cassandra chose to take the homeless worker job. From that day on, Cassandra had never doubted her decision because every time that she helped out someone, she had met a new life long friend. And that's exactly what Cassandra liked, making people's lives better while becoming super good friends at the same time. At my old house, everything was warm and cozy. We were all comfortable, my husband, my 2 kids, Priscilla and Dean, and myself. The love when we all sat near the television set and radio was a blanket that draped around our shoulders. I was the most heartbroken one when we received the news that my husband was being drafted into the military. We had to move, since my job of being a waitress at a small diner didn’t really support our family. Dang nabbit, this World War is killing me.
The children and I stood in the front lawn of the new house. We stared. The entire house was falling apart! I gulped, slowly walking towards the door. As I opened it, it creaked REALLY loudly. I’ll put that on my list of things to fix up. We walked in, carefully. Creaky floorboards...yup, gotta fix this house. We all looked around. Priscilla found the kitchen…thank goodness! A Wedgewood oven! A nice, good one, too, that works perfectly! Meanwhile, Dean was the one who found all of the beef with the house. He found a lot of open crevices and holes, sags in the roof, mold and water stains, and much, much more. This house is going to be a lot of work. I walked around a little bit more, I had the feeling of a needy child tugging on the bottom of my dress, while I looked down and watched my dress rip on the bottom from a broken piece of the floorboards. My dress! My brand new tea dress! Ruined! I bent over and picked up the little piece of red and white polka-dotted fabric. I really, really, REALLY can’t wait to fix up this battered old house! No more creaky ANYTHING, no more holes, no more mold, everything fixed up...and ESPECIALLY no more ruined dresses! As the radio played, Dean and Priscilla sang along as the Andrews Sisters were singing their newest tune, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” While I was cooking our dinner, Dean ran over and grabbed my hand. He pulled me into the brand new, renovated living room, as Priscilla started to play the Andrews Sisters’ song “Give Me Some Skin, My Friend” on the record player. Since we were all such big Andrews Sisters fans, we memorized the moves and lyrics to the song, and the kids tried to make me dance with them like they did in the movie the Sisters sang it in. As we sang and danced, high-fives flying around to the catchy tune, I heard a knock on the door. I walked over, laughing, while the children still sang and danced. I opened the door, and a familiar face appeared. I shrieked with joy, jumping up to hug him, with tears flowing. My husband spins me around while we hug, and gives me a great, big kiss. When he puts me down, we hear the running of Dean and Priscilla’s feet along the brand new, smooth floorboards, coming to greet their father. They jumped up and gave him a bear hug, showing their huge smiles. Now, since my husband has returned from his service in the war, we can enjoy the new, renovated, bright house together as a complete family. We swore,
We'd find a place to keep, where the streets are paved with gold. Sometimes hope inside, leaves you blind, but being blind is what you need to see, the golden streets inside. When bullets fly, or tears split the sky, think of a place to keep, that you may find, where the streets are paved with gold. Forget the demons, they only exist inside, come walk away to the light of day, for that place, that we'd find, for here is where, the streets are paved with gold. Not some distant destination, "Over there" Look inside, to find this place, where your life can be fulfilled. It is anywhere, anytime, it is where you choose it to be. Authors Note: Happiness is something understood and felt, not given or taken. Your life can be fulfilled and positive if you choose to make it that way, but negative thoughts will only give you more to think negatively about. Do what you love, love what you do, and only do or say things you can live with. And remember, happiness is a journey, not a destination. A soft breeze blew around swirling the leaves and dead grass around me dancing to a silent song that whistled through the air. I made my way towards the hill the wind playing with my hair gently pulling it from my face and my skirt trailing behind me slowly. Despair and sorrow filled me as I tried to stay focused on the hard dusty ground and the sloping hill sending me forward. I looked up to find the big oak tree that had been my refuge for a long time. I reached the dark brown oak and laid my hands upon the cool layers of wood that protected the tree from harm. I swung my feet into a crevice lifting myself into the arms of the tree. I nestled myself closely into the tree and finally began to feel relaxation taking over.
“What do I do?” I whispered leaning my head into the cool bark. The branches of the tree seemed to sway down and I could feel the dark green leaves tickling my skin lightly as if they were reassuring me. For months the decision to leave my family and everyone I love and go on a journey with basically a stranger had daunted me. “If I leave, then I will never see anyone I love again. I will never sit here again,” I choked out. The wind picked up a bit and I listened hard waiting for an answer as the wind swirled in my ear making a noise to me that sounded like: “Is that what you want?” The wind continued to whirl loudly in my ear and I closed my eyes and it was like I could hear the laughter in the air, taste the sunshine beaming down on me, smell the wafting smell of summer, and see my family here. There was a big blanket spread out on the green grass below the oak tree I sat in now, and my mom and dad were sitting on the blanket twenty years younger and watching me and my brother and sister climb the big branches of the oak tree. I saw my five year old self climbing as high as I dared go and my brother egging me to go farther while my sister watched from one of the lowest branches. We were laughing and singing and I could feel the love that radiated from my life. The image seemed to fade as the wind died down and I opened my eyes reminding myself that I was not five years old anymore but twenty five, but it didn’t seem to matter. The tree had reminded me who I was and who loved me most and I knew that was what mattered most. I smiled and hugged the tree closely the old, wise branches seemed to warm against my touch and I felt as if the tree were hugging me back. “Thank you for helping me make my decision” I whispered into the branches before jumping off the oak tree and letting the wind guide me back to where I belonged. |
