Have you ever gone camping in the dark woods and sat around the glowing red and orange campfire with flames jumping around and ate creamy delicious s'mores? Have you ever slept in a small cramped tent that takes ages to put up and when you do put it up its wrong because all the confusing parts and the directions. The directions are terrible and you can barely read them because all the different languages Chinese, Spanish and tons more. Then when it’s time to go to sleep, but you can’t really go to sleep because the bumps in the ground and the crickets chirping and the toads make an obnoxious noise- woooua woooua. Surprisingly, I like camping. I think it’s fun. I know a lot of people are probably saying ‘how does he like that stuf?’, I just like fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. So one Wednesday my friend Ian Cummings called me and said, “Do you and your dad want to go camping at my grandparents over the weekend for two days?” “Yeah, sure, but my dad can't go because he has to drive my sister to visit a college. My dad said that he could drive me up to the farm.” I answered. Ian said that his dad could drive me back home. On Friday morning I got a terrible cold, and you could hear my cough from a mile away and my parents were concerned about letting me go. After contemplating all night about if I should go or not they came out of their room and said I could go. I was so exuberant and filled with joy. I was so happy. The next morning I came down stairs with a cluster of bags, pocket knives, boots and my bb gun . Of course my mom goes through all my stuff and checks if i have all the things I need. She went over my manners too. Finally after eating an enormous breakfast that consisted probably over a billion calories it was time to leave. I was so excited I walked outside to to the beautiful smell of spring with all the birds singing a delightful song. I put all of my stuff in the trunk and my dad pulled out the car and we were off. After sitting in a car for an hour and a half of boredom, listening to the radio and navigating my dad with his old iphone 4 we arrived to a beautiful 100 acre farm that’s half farm and half woods it was enormous. We parked the car next to one of the barns. I saw my friend Ian with his friend Oats on the old wooden raft in the middle of the greenish bluish pond filled with lily pads fishing. He turn around and said , “come on what are you waiting for come on.” I grabbed my fishing pole and my tackle box from the trunk and ran down the little hill to the dock. My dad was busy unloading my stuff and talking to Mr.Cumings. I shouted out to Ian to let me on. He said to come around to the bank and you can jump on. So I ran around the bend and jumped on. I put my tackle box on the wooden plank and opened it up. Ian said that there were a lot of largemouth bass so I picked out a shiny yellow and white spinner lure. I casted it around a shady place that was under a bush where bass like to hide. Right after I casted it, I felt a big jerk. Ian and Oats dropped their rods and helped me real the beast in . We all struggled to reel it in ; the fish was fighting for its dear life .I handed the fishing rod to Ian to give him a shot at getting the fish in. The fish was going crazy jumping out of the water. Finally the fish got tired and it was easier to real in. When we got it on the raft the big fish was squirming around on the old wet wood of the raft. “ Wow thats a big one .” Oates said. I “I know” I said. “ It might be the biggest fish i've ever caught.” I kissed the big fat ugly fish before I threw it back in for good luck. After we were done we walked to where the camping ground was and where all of our stuff was and where the parents were sitting down on lawn chairs talking. I walked up to the car with my dad to say goodby and take some medicine for my cold. My dad gave me a hug and said have fun. He gave me the medicine and said that it’s very bitter. I got the little cup of of medicine and drank it real fast. I could taste the bitterness. It was awful. It was like drinking a bottle of vanilla extract mixed with lemon. I said to my dad, “have fun with maddie at the college” and I gave him another hug. He got in the car closed the door and started to drive down the dirt road slowly and honked the horn and said, “ see ya later”. I waved him goodbye.I walked down dirt hill to the dock where the campsite was and I saw black and gray clouds in the distance moving toward us like a stampede of bulls. The wind was picking up it made the trees sway back and forth. I said to Mr.Cumings,” I think there is a storm coming and we should get the tents up.” He said , “I think you're right.” So we set up the tents real quick and figured out where everyone was going to sleep before the storm hit. Luckily it was only a rainstorm so we decided to go in the pond. We all got on the raft and we chose someone to push the raft. When we got to the deepest spot Ian said we should have brawls and push each other in and who ever got pushed in first would have to touch the bottom and grab a hand full of seaweed and lily pads and put it in your hair, but we ended up throwing all the gunk at each other. We all were covered with mud and slime. We had a so much fun we were probably out there for 3 hours. The fun ended when the parents heard thunder and told us it was not safe to be in the water so we got to the dock as fast as possible. We jumped on the dock and got changed out of our wet shorts. Somehow we got a fire started because all of the leaves created a umbrella. We sat around the fire and talked about hunting and school. At last it was dinner . We were all so hungry. We ate at least 3 hot dogs each. We were so tired we all went to bed. I slept in Oat’s tent with his dad. The next morning we were all tired we looked like zombies. The fire was just barely smoldering with a glimmer of orange. The rain stopped but sadly we had to go home.We ate some breakfast and packed the cars and checked if we forgot anything then we got in the car and started are long trek home.Even though it rained almost the whole day we still had a lot of fun. I look forward when I go camping again with my friend.
