December 1, 1918- Iceland was granted its independence by the Danish parliament. December 2, 1805- Napoleon defeats Russia and Austria in the Battle of Austerlitz. December 3, 1993- British's Princess Diana announced that she would be stepping out of the public spotlight, wanting more privacy and less attention form tabloid presses and paparazzi. December 4, 1918- The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovens was proclaimed. December 5, 1876- President Ulysses S. Grant made a speech of apology to Congress claiming that the mistakes he made durring his presidency were "errors of judgement, not intent". December 6, 1865- The 13th Amendment of the US Constitution was ratified, abolishing slavery. December 7, 43 B.C.- Cicero (Marcus Tullius) died. He was a writer, statesman, and was considered Roman's greatest orator.
