May 29, 1660- After several years of Commonwealth under Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell, England's monarchy is restored by Charles II on the throne. May 30, 1783- The Pennsylvania Evening Post becomes the daily newspaper in America. May 31, 1889- During the Johnstown flood in Pennsylvania , over 2,300 people were killed.
